MORGANTOWN — It was another big recruiting weekend for West Virginia, adding multiple prospects for the 2026 class.
The Mountaineers had four players commit to them on Sunday, including a couple more three-stars and a junior college player.
The first domino to fall was three-star offensive lineman Camden Goforth, who flipped from Coastal Carolina. The Athens, Tenn. native originally committed to the Chanticleers on June 1 after an official visit. He kept his recruiting open, visited Western Kentucky, and recently visited West Virginia on June 13, which ultimately changed his mind.
Goforth is the consensus 41st-ranked player in Tennessee and 120th-ranked interior offensive lineman in the class.
Goforth wasn’t the only offensive lineman added Sunday. Later in the night, three-star interior lineman Justyn Lyles announced his commitment. He’s not rated consensually but marked as a three-star by 247Sports and the 65th-best player in Ohio. Lyles also committed right after visiting West Virginia, the same weekend.
With the additions of Goforth and Lyles, Rich Rodriguez has three future offensive linemen for the class, playing into his offensive scheme of moving bodies in the trenches.
West Virginia did add a skill position to the offense. In the afternoon, unranked wide receiver Robert Smith announced his commitment on Instagram. The Niceville, Fla. native stands at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, and received offers from Arkansas State, FIU, East Carolina and Florida Atlantic. Smith is the first wide receiver in the class.
Rodriguez didn’t add only defense this weekend. Northeastern Oklahoma A&M linebacker/safety Aaron Edwards announced his commitment after Smith. If Edwards is put at linebacker, he’d be the second linebacker for the class, joining three-star Antoine Sharp….
