Clemson target, Pennsylvania 4-star safety Joey O’Brien commits

With such a hot run in recruiting recently, the Clemson Tigers were hoping to add another name to their list of 2026 commitments Friday in 4-star safety Joey O’Brien.

The Clemson target from La Salle College High School in Pennsylvania announced his recruitment Friday: he’s headed to South Bend to play for Notre Dame and coach Marcus Freeman.

Penn State and Oregon were the two other schools in the mix for O’Brien, who included Tennessee and Michigan in his final six back in April. 247Sports ranks O’Brien as the No. 4 safety and the No. 30 player overall in the 2026 recruiting class.

Clemson fans still have plenty to cheer about on the recruiting trail. On Thursday, 4-star EDGE Dre Quinn chose the Tigers over the Texas Longhorns, giving Dabo Swinney and company their 19th hard commitment for the 2026 class.

Quinn was the fourth player to commit to Clemson this month, joining 3-star EDGE JR Hardrick (South Pittsburg, Tenn.) and 4-star offensive linemen Carter Scruggs (Leesburg, Va.) Leo Delaney (Charlotte, N.C.).

At safety, the Tigers have commitments from 4-star recruits Kentavion Anderson (Dorman High School in Roebuck, S.C.) and Kaden Gebhardt (Lewis Center, Ohio).

ESPN ranked Clemson’s 2026 class No. 4 nationally in their most recent recruiting rankings on June 12.
