Auburn football loses third 2026 commitment in 4-star WR Devin Carter

AUBURN — It’s clear winning will be a must for Hugh Freeze this fall, especially because his biggest strength with Auburn football has seemingly fallen by the wayside.

On Monday, four-star wide receiver Devin Carter, who had been committed to the Tigers since January, flipped his pledge in favor of Florida State. He was listed as Auburn’s second-highest-rated commit when he made the change.

It came one day after four-star linebacker Shadarius Toodle — then the Tigers’ third-highest-rated commit — flipped from Auburn to Georgia. With four-star linebacker JaMichael Garrett’s decommitment from the program earlier this month, Auburn’s 2026 class has only grown weaker.

According to 247Sports, Auburn’s class ranks No. 72 nationally, which is second-worst in the SEC. The Tigers sit behind the likes of Appalachian State, Oregon State and Toledo in those listings.

Who else remains in Auburn football’s 2026 recruiting class?

EDGE Hezekiah Harris (4 Stars)No. 93 nationally; No. 12 EDGE; No. 7 ALWR Denairius Gray (4 Stars)No. 268; No. 44; No. 41 FLIOL Parker Pritchett (3 Stars)No. 435; No. 40; No. 50 GAS Wayne Henry (3 Stars)No. 911; No. 76; No. 19 MDRB Eric Perry (3 Stars)No. 1,044; No. 77; No. 33 MS
