OXFORD — Ole Miss football is replacing a wealth of talent for coach Lane Kiffin’s 2025 roster.
The Rebels are coming off a 10-3 year. Eight players from that team were picked in the 2025 NFL Draft, which was a program record in the seven-round era. Defensive lineman Walter Nolen (No. 16 overall to the Arizona Cardinals) and quarterback Jaxson Dart (No. 25 to the New York Giants) were first-round picks.
Coach Lane Kiffin has revamped the roster through the transfer portal. Sophomore quarterback Austin Simmons is positioned to lead the offense. Here are the Ole Miss position groups that should be strengths of the team.
Linebackers: Suntarine Perkins will lead Ole Miss on defense
The linebacker room has a star in Suntarine Perkins.
Perkins played in all 13 games as a sophomore in 2024. He was a key piece of the dominant defense. Perkins tied for the team lead in sacks (10.5) and tackles for loss (14). He was named an All-SEC third team selection.
Getting TJ Dottery back for his redshirt junior year makes Ole Miss’ linebackers one of the team’s most experienced starting units, even with top tackler Chris Paul off to the NFL. Dottery started 12 games in 2024 and was No. 2 on the team with 76 tackles.
Marshall transfer Jaden Yates is an exciting new addition. He had 114 tackles, which led the Sun Belt Conference last year. Gramling State transfer Andrew Jones should play a role too.
Wide receivers: Who will step up with Cayden Lee to assist Austin Simmons?
The receivers Austin Simmons threw to will be almost entirely different from who Dart threw to.
The Rebels graduated No. 1 receiver Tre Harris, No. 2 receiver Jordan Watkins and No. 4 receiver Juice Wells. Cayden Lee, the No. 3 receiver, returns to Ole Miss along with a bevy of newcomers.
De’Zhaun Stribling (Oklahoma State), Harrison Wallace (Penn State), Caleb Odom (Alabama),…
