One of Auburn’s top targets is ready to commit. Is he still considering joining the Tigers’ 2026 class?
Kaiden Prothro, the nation’s No. 2 tight end and No. 42 overall recruit, shared Monday that he will announce his commitment on Saturday, July 12. However, those searching for positive news regarding Auburn recruiting will have to look further, as Prothro did not include Auburn in his final three. According to Sam Spigelman of On3, Prothro is focusing on Florida, Georgia, and Texas ahead of his July commitment date.
Which school has the edge? On3 recruiting experts Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons have logged a prediction that favors Georgia. Georgia has put in plenty of effort in recruiting Prothro, and he feels that he can achieve the dream of playing in the NFL if he signs with Georgia.
“Being able to see the charts from the other schools compared to Georgia and how they’re putting guys in the league and how many tight ends coach (Todd) Hartley has put in the league and seeing that kind of stood out to me,” Prothro said in a recent interview with On3.
Auburn football is holding on to five commitments for its 2026 class. After losing four-stars Shadarius Toodle, Devin Carter, and Jamichael Garrett over the last two weeks, Auburn now ranks No. 62 in On3’s 2026 rankings and No. 74 in 247Sports’ rankings. Hugh Freeze and his staff signed two tight ends last cycle– Hollis Davidson and Ryan Ghea– and is not in a tight race with any of the 26 tight ends that they have offered this cycle, so Freeze may need to turn to Davidson and Ghea as future tight ends once Brandon Frazier graduates after this season.
