WATCH: FAMU football coach James Colzie III comments on 2025 spring game
James Colzie III is the head coach of the FAMU Rattlers football team.

Head coach James Colzie III, offensive lineman Ashton Grable, and defensive end Davion Westmoreland will represent the Rattlers at Southwestern Athletic Conference Football Media Day next month.
SWAC Media Day will happen on Wednesday, July 16, at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel and is scheduled for an 11 a.m. Eastern Time start.
SWAC Media Day is an annual event that features all 12 members’ head coach and standout players to meet reporters and preview the upcoming football season.
The All-SWAC Preseason Team and league’s predicted order of finish will also be announced at media day.
It will be Colzie’s second SWAC Media Day as he brings the two seniors, Grable and Westmoreland.
Last season, Grable starred on the Rattlers’ offensive line, earning NCAA All-HBCU honors for 2024. Westmoreland led FAMU football with eight tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks last season.
The Rattlers are returning from a 7-5 output in the 2024 season.
FAMU football will open its 12-game regular season schedule on Saturday, Aug. 30, versus the Howard Bison at Miami Gardens’ Orange Blossom Classic inside Hard Rock Stadium.
