2026 4-star OT Drew Evers commits to SMU over Texas A&M on Thursday

Texas A&M’s offensive line future looks set after coach Mike Elko and O-line coach Adam Cushing signed six offensive linemen in the 2025 recruiting class, while the success continued into the 2026 cycle, as four-star tackles Samuel Roseborough, Avery Morcho, and Zaden Krempin committed to the Aggies over the last week.

Still, you can’t win them all, leading to Thursday’s news that 2026 four-star offensive tackle Drew Evers, who is coming off his official visit to Texas A&M, committed to SMU over the Aggies, Ohio State, Penn State, and LUS which followed Wednesday night’s news that rising 2026 three-star OT Aaron Thomas committed to Ohio State over Texas A&M and Florida State.

Why did Evers choose SMU? The Flower Mound, Texas native, like Aaron Thomas, was likely impacted by Krempin’s surprise commitment on Wednesday. As SMU’s 2025 starting tackles are both redshirt seniors, this is good news for Evers, who is poised to see the field by his second collegiate season.

For the Aggies, there is still a chance Evers changes his mind before Early Signing Day on December 4, It looks like Evers is all in on playing for the Mustangs, especially knowing that Flower Mound is just one hour away from the SMU campus.

At Flower Mound High School, Evers has been the starting right tackle throughout his career, and is already a developed run blocker, while his pass blocking skill set still needs refinement. According to 247Sports, Evers is currently positioned as the 28th-ranked interior offensive lineman and the 51st-ranked prospect in Texas.
