Alabama football has landed a commitment from homegrown talent Zay Hall, a three-star linebacker out of Hillcrest High School
Hall committed to Alabama on Friday, June 27. He chose the Crimson Tide over Virginia Tech.
With Hall, Alabama continues a string of recruiting successes. After landing running back Javari Barnett and safety Rihyael Kelley June 23, the Crimson Tide secured four-star running back Ezavier Crowell and four-star tight end Mack Sutter within hours of one another June 26.
Hall is the first linebacker to join Alabama’s 2026 class and the 10th overall. He the No. 55 player in Alabama and the No. 126 linebacker in the class per 247Sports’ composite rankings.
If he signs with the Crimson Tide, Hall would be the first Alabama signee from the Tuscaloosa area since running back Kevin Riley (Tuscaloosa County High School) and offensive lineman William Sanders (Brookwood High School) in 2024.
What Zay Hall commitment means for Alabama football
Despite missing part of the 2024 season due to a high ankle sprain, Hall still recorded 62 tackles in 2024 (36 solo, 26 assisted) with five tackles for loss, two sacks and an interception in his first season at Hillcrest.
What sets Hall apart, though, are his measurables. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 237 pounds, he consistently runs a 4.5-second 40-yard dash per high school coach Jamie Mitchell, including clocking a 4.55 while on an official visit to Alabama.
“You don’t find guys that big who are 4.5 guys in the 40,” Mitchell said. “You’re talking about a 240-pound guy running like that – it’s just completely, completely unheard of.”
