Alabama football wins commitment from top 2026 in-state running back. What it means

JACKSON, Ala. − Alabama football has landed one of the top in-state offensive players in the 2026 recruiting class.

Ezavier Crowell, a four-star running back out of Jackson, announced his commitment to Alabama June 26 at The Community House in Jackson, picking the Crimson Tide over Texas, Georgia, Florida State, Florida and Auburn.

“When you come to make your decision, make sure it’s the right decision, one that you don’t regret,” Crowell told the Tuscaloosa News in April.

Crowell is the 11th member of Alabama’s 2026 recruiting class and is ranked as the No. 33 player and the No. 2 running back nationally per 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Crowell is the third-ranked prospect in the state of Alabama behind five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan and four-star linebacker Anthony Jones.

Crowell is the highest-rated Alabama high school running back since Roc Thomas, who signed with Auburn in 2014. Crowell is the highest-rated running back to commit to Alabama since Justice Haynes in 2023.

Crowell originally was a member of the 2027 recruiting class, but reclassified to 2026 in January.

What Ezavier Crowell commitment means for Alabama football

In his first two seasons at Jackson High School, Crowell dominated, recording more than 4,000 all-purpose yards and 62 total touchdowns.

Initially a member of the 2027 recruiting class, Crowell, standing at 5-foot-11, 215 pounds, reclassified and joined the 2026 class, a jump he said he was ready for.

“I feel like I’m ready to go to the next level,” Crowell said.

To Jackson football coach Cody Flournoy, Alabama is getting a bruiser in Crowell, one who showed his physicality from the moment he first touched a football for the Aggies, one that left opposing defenses guessing.
