3-star recruit Kris Thompson commits to Kentucky Football for the 2025 season

Football season is officially just around the corner as July is quickly approaching.

Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats have an interesting season ahead.

Although the season is drawing closer, recruiting never seems to slow down or come to an end.

The program has now added a defensive piece late in the summer as 3-star linebacker Kris Thompson officially committed Friday.

The Tennessee native and class of 2025 prospect played his high school football at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville and was ranked by 247 Sports as the 33rd overall player in the state. He held scholarship offers from Michigan, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Louisville, Miami, Indiana, Illinois, Florida, and Georgia Tech, among others.

The 6-foot, 215-pound Thompson now joins 22 other incoming freshmen this season. He’ll look to help bolster the defensive room this upcoming season.

Thompson has had a quiet recruitment process but had an impressive high school career.

The newest commit took multiple unofficial visits to SEC schools throughout the year, but ultimately landed with Stoops and company as a Wildcat.
