Georgia football has picked up the No. 1 defensive lineman in the class of 2026 per On3 in James Johnson.
The Fort Myers, Fla., native announced his decision Saturday afternoon on X, formerly known as Twitter. He selected the Bulldogs over Florida, Texas and Miami.
The 6-foot-3, 285-pound high school senior is ranked as the No. 8 defensive lineman in the nation and No. 10 in Florida by the 247Sports Composite. He becomes the 24th hard commit for the Bulldogs, 11th 4-star commit and fourth but highest rated defensive line commit.
He had 41 collegiate offers, including across the SEC in Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Texas A&M, and across the Big Ten in Wisconsin, USC, Penn State, Nebraska, Michigan State, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. He also had interest from big names like Kansas, Louisville, NC State, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Pitt and more.
Georgia’s 2025 season kicks off with Marshall in Athens at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 30 on ESPN.
