Hurricanes land defensive-tackle recruit Anthony Kennedy

The Hurricanes’ big month of recruiting continued on Friday.

Miami secured a commitment from three-star defensive tackle Anthony Kennedy on Friday. He is UM’s eighth commit since the start of June.

Kennedy, a Little Rock, Arkansas, native, is listed as the No. 47 defensive lineman and No. 436 player in the class, according to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings. He chose the Hurricanes over offers from Georgia, Missouri and SMU, among others. He was previously committed to Missouri.

Kennedy, who is listed at about 6-3 and 330 pounds, had 11 tackles for loss and six sacks last season.

Miami’s staff likes Kennedy’s ability to collapse the pocket and how well he moves for his size, a UM source told the Sun Sentinel.

Kennedy is the second interior defensive lineman in Miami’s class, joining Tyson Bacon.
