According to a social media post Saturday afternoon, current Alabama Crimson Tide 2026 football commit Jamarion Matthews has officially shut down his recruitment.

Matthews, a four-star defensive prospect, has been committed to the Crimson Tide since February of 2025.

Per the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings, Matthews is considered as the nation’s No. 98 overall prospect in the 2026 class, as well as the No. 13 edge rusher nationally. A four-star prospect, Matthews is also considered the No. 11 overall prospect in the state of Georgia where he attends Gainesville High School.

Matthews is currently one-of-two edge rushers currently part of Alabama’s 2026 class, joined by in-state prospect Kamhariyan Johnson. The fellow four-star also officially shut down his recruitment earlier this month.
