Alabama football lands Owen Cabell, wide receiver from CPA in Nashville

Christ Presbyterian Academy receiver Owen Cabell committed to Alabama football on June 30, he confirmed on X.

Cabell, a three-star prospect ranked, is the No. 28 class of 2026 player in Tennessee and No. 166 receiver nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite. He received an offer from Alabama on June 2 and visited the school June 20-22.

Cabell had hinted that things were heating up with the Crimson Tide and coach Kalen DeBoer last month. Cabell told the Tennessean on May 21 at the TSSAA track and field state meet, “I got a little thing going with ‘Bama right now. So we’re going to see how that pans out.”

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound rising senior also had offers from Georgia, Arkansas, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin among 14 others.

Cabell had visited Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Indiana and Duke over the past few months. He said in May that he wanted to make a commitment sometime before the TSSAA football season begins.

Cabell had 43 catches, 973 yards receiving and 13 TDs during CPA’s run to the DII-AA state title in 2024.

In May, he finished third in the Division II-AA 100-meter dash state finals in 10.93 seconds and sixth in the 200 in 22.55 seconds.
