Ohio State is in the thick of the summer college football recruiting schedule. After hosting numerous recruits on campus in June, the Buckeyes are now watching the recruiting dominoes fall and hoping it is in their favor.
Ryan Day’s 2026 recruiting class currently sits at No. 5 in the 247Sports Class Rankings after adding a trio of new commitments in the last week, and the team is hoping to add to its class this week.
The week of the Fourth of July is typically one of the busier college football recruiting commitment weeks of the year, and this year is no different. Ohio State is hoping for some additional fireworks of its own as the team learned Monday that five-star offensive tackle target Felix Ojo (Mansfield, TX / Lake Ridge) will announce his commitment on July 4.
The blue-chip prospect is the No. 2 OT in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is the No. 7 national prospect and the No. 1 recruit out of the talent-rich state of Texas.
Ojo has a final group of four schools including Ohio State, Florida, Texas and Michigan. He took official visits with all four of his finalists starting with Florida followed by Ohio State. He then visited with Michigan and Texas. Ojo also took official visits with Utah, Colorado, Texas Tech and Ole Miss, but they are no longer contenders in his recruitment. Of his finalists, he has said that Texas and Ohio State are at the top of his list.
Ohio State already has a solid haul alongside the offensive line with commitments from two four-star OT’s in Maxwell Riley and Sam Greer as well as from three-star OT Aaron Thomas and three-star IOL Tucker Smith. However, the team would like to add to this haul and Ojo would be a perfect last piece of the puzzle for the Buckeyes.
