Five players named to Athlon Sports’ 2025 All-SEC team

The Florida Gators will head into the 2025 college football season with plenty of star power. In its preseason All-SEC teams, Athlon Sports tabbed multiple Florida players across all four squads, spotlighting the names Billy Napier needs to deliver on playoff expectations.

The Gators placed five players total, with representation on both sides of the ball and a clear signal that Florida has the high-end talent to chase the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide–if they can put it all together on the field.

Now, it’s on Napier, his staff and Florida’s veteran core to take that next step, avoid consistency and break back into the national spotlight for good. Expectations in Gainesville are high again–and this group has the star names to match them.

Here’s a closer look at each Gator who made Athlon’s cut, and what it means for the program in 2025.

Jake Slaughter: First-Team center

Jake Slaughter headlines Florida’s list as a first-team selection at center, anchoring one of the most experienced offensive lines in the SEC. Slaughter’s veteran leadership and consistency in the trenches will be crucial as Florida looks to keep its star quarterback protected and the run game rolling.

Jadan Baugh: Second-Team running back

Jadan Baugh earned a second-team nod at running back after emerging as one of Florida’s breakout playmakers late last season. He’s the kind of physical back who can take pressure off DJ Lagway and help control the clock against the SEC’s best defenses.

Eugene Wilson III: Second-Team wide receiver

Athlon’s second-team offense also includes Eugene Wilson III, Florida’s top returning pass catcher. Wilson flashed big-play ability last year before his season was cut short due to injury. But he’ll likely become Lagway’s favorite target in 2025.
