Alabama athletics director Greg Byrne made the Crimson Tide’s initial approach to revenue share plain.
According to the House vs. NCAA settlement, collegiate programs will have $20.5 million at its disposal to distribute to athletes. All SEC programs, per Byrne, pledged $2.5 million in new scholarships, leaving $18 million for Alabama to distribute to its athletes. Byrne said football and men’s basketball will see the highest percentage, following by the other ticketed sports: softball, baseball, gymnastics and women’s basketball.
Most SEC schools are planning to allocate 75% of the player payroll to football, which will amount to about $13.5 million.
So how much could Alabama football have for each position on its roster? Here is a projection based on NIL compensation data from OpenDorse, an athlete marketplace and NIL technology company, which allocated budgets to each football position group.
Note: The total does not include third-party NIL deals.
