Northwestern may have struggled last season, finishing 16th of 18 and going 2-7 in the Big Ten, but one Wildcat’s performance was enough to earn him honors — the video game kind.
Redshirt junior left tackle Caleb Tiernan received a 91 overall rating in EA Sports’ upcoming College Football 26 video game. His rating improved from 83 overall in College Football 25.
Tiernan is one of four at the position and the only Northwestern athlete to rate in the game’s top 100 players. The 6-foot-7 tackle is outranked by Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor (94) and Colorado’s Jordan Seaton (92).
But he’s technically best in the Big Ten: Isaiah World (Oregon) is also rated 91 overall, but is below Tiernan based on the multitude of subcategories.
Last season at Northwestern, Tiernan started all 12 games at left tackle and allowed just one sack over the season’s final six games, earning him an All-Big Ten honorable mention. As a redshirt sophomore he saw the second-most action on the team in 846 snaps, did not allow a quarterback hit for eight consecutive games and allowed just one sack all season, in the opener at Rutgers.
It’s not clear what’s in store for the Wildcats come football season. Northwestern’s 2025 recruiting class is ranked No. 65 nationally and No. 17 in the Big Ten, per On3. Regardless of how they perform, Wildcat fans will be counting on Tiernan both on-screen and on the field.
