Michigan football lands big pass catching recruit

Sherrone Moore has started to put together a solid class of weapons to build around his young five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood.

Friday afternoon, Michigan landed four-star wide receiver Travis Johnson from Chesapeake, Virginia. He stands at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds.

In a X post (formerly Twitter) from transfer portal reporter Hayes Fawcett, Johnson announced his commitment to the Wolverines.

“All Glory to God…Go Blue,” Johnson said in his commitment.

Johnson chose Michigan over Penn State and South Carolina, who had both been pursuing Johnson aggressively. Johnson’s commitment to Michigan makes him the third wide receiver it has gotten for the Class of 2026, joining fellow four-star Zion Robinson and three-star Jaylen Pile.

Johnson is ranked as the No. 144 recruit in the country and the No. 21 overall wide receiver in next year’s class, according to the Composite.

According to 247 Sports’ scouting report on Johnson, he is, “Well-rounded wide receiver with the size, speed and focus to emerge as a trusted option at the Power Four level. Height and bounce suggest that he’s destined to play on the outside, but is sudden and quick enough to win from an interior alignment with his slick route running. Attacks cushion with a good surge off the line and can reach a top gear before changing course with full-tilt cuts.”

The three receivers the Wolverines have received so far should be primed to help out Underwood, who is getting ready to play his freshman year with Michigan this fall.
