After landing two out of three priority prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, including five-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright on Saturday afternoon, Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his staff are focused on the No. 1-ranked defensive lineman in the cycle, five-star Lamar Brown, who will announce his commitment on Thursday.
After taking official visits to his hometown of LSU and Texas A&M during the final weekends of June, Brown is down to both teams as his final future pairing, and according to nearly every trustworthy recruiting source, including AggieYell insider Landyn Rosow, it’s essentially a coin flip for both programs heading down the stretch. Still, landing Bryce Perry-Wright came as a shock to many, given that Clemson had been the favorite destination over the last two months.
After Wright’s commitment, Brown took to social media celebrating his announcement, stating, “Let’s team up and run the SEC👀” which shouldn’t be taken as a clear cut sign that he’s choosing A&M, but at least proves that the Aggies are in great position to pull off a another epic recruiting victory in the defensive trenches.
‘So, after Bryce Perry-Wright, the Aggies are still very much in the thick of things with multiple top targets. With Brown, Watkins, and Wilson all on deck over the next two weeks, don’t be surprised if A&M’s class keeps stacking up fast.’
Momentum is everything in recruiting, but Texas A&M’s 2026 class feels different compared to previous cycles, as over a dozen of the program’s 24 commitments have shut down their recruitment, and will sign with the Aggies during the Early Signing period. Brown has a tough choice to make, feeling that both schools can develop him into a future first-round NFL draft selection.
