LSU football is contending for college football’s No. 1-ranked recruiting class in 2026. The Tigers have 14 commits and both On3 and 247Sports rankings have LSU’s average recruit rating as the best in the country. Brian Kelly and LSU don’t have the same quantity as some other programs right now, but the quality of recruit is second to none.
Despite that, LSU has not added a quarterback to the crop. And with 15 of the top 16 2026 QBs already committed, there’s not much left on the board. The lone uncommitted player in that group is Landon Duckworth, but LSU isn’t in the race for the four-star passer.
The Tigers took a couple of recent swings at Bowe Bentley and Bryson Beaver, but Bentley pledged to Oklahoma and Beaver committed to Oregon.
LSU didn’t sign a high school quarterback in the 2025 class, either. LSU had a commitment from Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 recruit in the country, for most of the cycle, but Underwood flipped to Michigan in November. It was too late for LSU to find a high school class replacement, but the Tigers took Micahel Van Buren from the transfer portal.

And right now, I’d say the chances of a major flip are slim. Most of the top QBs seem firm in their commitments and there’s not much smoke with LSU. At this point, LSU would need some signing day drama.
That can’t be ruled out. Bentley is committed to Oklahoma, but Sooners’ head coach Brent Venables could be on the hot seat if OU has another rough campaign in 2025. If Venables is out in…
