Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel was named to the 2025 Dodd Trophy Preseason Watch List. The preseason list was released Monday by the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Peach Bowl, Inc.
Heupel, who is in his fifth year as the Vols’ head coach, is one of 26 coaches, including eight SEC coaches on the list.
The award is named after former Tennessee player and Georgia Tech head coach Bobby Dodd. The award recognizes a coach whose team enjoys success on the football field, while also emphasizing scholarship and integrity, the three pillars of Dodd’s coaching philosophy.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the trophy was established to honor the FBS coach whose program represents the highest ideals on and off the field. The list was created by the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Peach Bowl, Inc., taking into consideration each program’s academic rate, graduation success rate, commitment to service and charity, as well as projected success during the 2025 season.
During his tenure at Tennessee, Heupel has compiled a 37-15 record and guided the Vols to 11 victories over top 25 teams and an appearance in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff following the 2024 season.
