Wisconsin football lineman Parker Peterson preseason All-Big Ten Team

Wisconsin football transfer defensive lineman Parker Peterson appeared on Phil Steele’s Preseason All-Big Ten team on Monday.

The longtime college football writer crafted four squads within the conference, including several players at each position. Peterson, who transferred to Luke Fickell’s program from Tulane following the conclusion of the 2024 campaign, landed on the analyst’s fourth team alongside Anthony Smith (Minnesota), Keeshawn Silver (USC) and Eric O’Neill (Rutgers).

Mikail Kamara (Indiana), Aaron Graves (Iowa), Zane Durant (Penn State) and Gabe Jacas (Illinois) were Steele’s first-team defensive lineman. Of note, Wisconsin linebacker Christian Alliegro and safety Preston Zachman were also featured on the fourth team for their respective positions.

In 13 games as a redshirt junior with the Green Wave, Peterson logged 21 total tackles, 4 1/2 tackles for loss and 2 1/2 sacks. He did so after recording just four total tackles in his first two seasons with Tulane. His 2024 breakout showcased his potential ceiling with the Badgers.

With the departures of James Thompson Jr. (Illinois), Curt Neal (Illinois) and Hank Weber (Stanford), Wisconsin circled the defensive line as a position group of great importance this winter. To address the void, Peterson joined Corey Walker (Western Michigan), Charles Perkins (UT-Martin) and Jay’Viar Suggs (LSU) as UW’s transfer additions.

As a prospect, 247Sports pegged Peterson as the No. 171 defensive lineman and No. 41 player from the state of Tennessee for his recruiting class. When he entered the portal, the outlet considered him a four-star prospect, the No. 99 overall player in the portal window and No. 14 defensive lineman.

Peterson’s success with Tulane certainly encouraged Fickell and the Badgers’ staff. He will look to showcase his talents when Wisconsin squares off…
