Clemson football lands 4-star Kharim Hughley, first QB of 2027 class

CLEMSON — Clemson football and coach Dabo Swinney added their second player in the 2027 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star quarterback Kharim Hughley.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder from Gainesville High School in Georgia is rated the No. 27 player in the state and the No. 14 quarterback nationally by the 247Sports Composite rankings. Hughley committed July 10 after announcing he received an offer from Clemson on July 5.

In his sophomore season, Hughley had 2,543 yards passing for 22 touchdowns and two interceptions and rushed for 108 yards for three touchdowns, according to MaxPreps. He helped Gainesville to a 7-4 record and the state playoffs. He attended the same high school as former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Clemson’s 2027 class has two recruits and is No. 10 nationally. Hughley is Clemson’s first offensive player to commit to Clemson this cycle.

He joins four-star linebacker Max Brown of Jefferson, Georgia, and the younger brother of Clemson linebacker Sammy Brown, as the class’s only members.
