Who is Michigan’s biggest villain for the 2025 season?

The Michigan Wolverines’ follow up to their 2023 national championship win definitely didn’t go as they were hoping, but with the loss of on-field talent (J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum) and head coach Jim Harbaugh, some struggles could surely be expected in the 2024 season.

The team went 8-5 on the year in 2024, starting out 4-1 with their first five games being held at “The Big House,” and including a loss to a very game Texas Longhorns team.

And after losing their championship rematch game against Washington, the team would go on to lose three of their next four games, before rallying and finishing the regular season strong with an upset 13-10 win over Ohio State in their regular season finale, their fourth consecutive win over their rivals, and then defeating Alabama 19-13 in the ReliaQuest Bowl to finish out.

However, according to ESPN,, despite the four straight wins they hold, the Wolverines’ main villain for the 2025 season remains the reigning national champions Ohio State, and after the whole flag-planting fiasco that the Wolverines pulled last year at Ohio Stadium, it is very much believable that Ohio State will look to turn the tide and give head coach Ryan Day his first win over Michigan.

The Michigan Wolverines currently lead the rivalry all-time in wins, at 62-51-6, and are well aware that if they ever want to find themselves in the Big 10 Championship or College Football Playoff picture, they are going to have to go through Ohio State, which they have in the past four years, and fans will be eager to see if Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines can make it five in a row this year over the Buckeyes in “The Game.”
