ESPN college football expert Paul Finebaum is skeptical of the Georgia Bulldogs ahead of the 2025 college football season. When asked if it is more likely for Georgia to be contenders or fighting to be in the College Football Playoff, Finebaum made it clear that he thinks Georgia has lost too much talent recently to be one of the top national title contenders. “I believe they’ll be fighting to be in the playoffs,” said Finebaum. “And we all respect Kirby Smart. I think he’s the best coach in college football, but that does not mean anything if you lose players like they have lost over the last couple of years.””Three years ago, that draft in Vegas, everyone remembers. I mean, it was one Georgia player after another. I mean, I have never seen anything quite like that.”Georgia had a record-breaking 15 players selected in the 2022 NFL draft including five first-round picks. No college football team has ever had more players selected in one NFL draft. Georgia was able to reload with quarterback Stetson Bennett and company in 2022 en route to a second straight national championship. “But they haven’t quite been able to fill those needs. And I know the point was made earlier about Stetson Bennett winning two national championships, but he had one of the all-time defenses. And I don’t think Georgia has that. That Alabama game is problematic in September and so are a number of other games that Georgia is going to have to deal with including a visit from Arch Manning (and Texas) late in the season.”Georgia certainly has a challenging schedule in 2025, but the Bulldogs play most of their toughest games at home. Georgia has a lot of question marks this season surrounding redshirt junior quarterback Gunner Stockton.
