With three five-star and 13 four-star prospects from the 2026 class committed to Texas A&M, second-year head coach Mike Elko is carrying massive momentum into a new season in Bryan-College Station, Texas.
The Aggies landed 15 recruits from the ESPN 300, including four-star running back KJ Edwards and five-star ATH Brandon Arrington. On3 Sports and 247 Sports are both in agreement when it comes to the overall strength of next year’s cycle, as both recruiting media publications place Texas A&M at No. 4 overall in the country.
It is due in large part to the outstanding job Elko continues to do on the recruiting trail, combined with the opportunity to compete in the Southeastern Conference under the lights in one of the most exhilarating environments in college football.
Before this year’s campaign kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 30, against UTSA, ESPN listed the Aggies’ 2026 recruiting class as one of the best in the country. National recruiting analyst Craig Haubert gave well-deserved praise to Elko and company on an incredible class, as he placed Texas A&M at No. 4 overall and No. 2 in the SEC in his recruiting rankings.
Recruiting at a high level
“Mike Elko has quickly proved he can identify and recruit at a high level. He has worked fertile recruiting grounds outside his home territory, including Georgia, Florida, California. He went out west to land the nation’s No. 1-ranked athlete Brandon Arrington, whose speed could allow him to have an impact on either side of the ball, though he projects to corner in College Station. He pulled out Georgia ESPN 300 DLs Jordan Carter and Bryce Perry-Wright as well as landing fellow four-star defensive tackle Jermaine Kinsler out of New Jersey,” Haubert said.
