It’s no secret that Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith can do some superhuman things on a football field. He splashed on the scene last season as a freshman, having one of the best freshman seasons a receiver has ever had.
As good as Smith was, however, as a receiver, he needed some help to get his catches, yards, and highlight plays that came early and often. The line had to block, and quarterback Will Howard had to be able to put the ball in the right spot on time. Over 1,300 yards and a College Football Playoff national championship later, it’s safe to say all of that occurred in 2024.
Now that the offense has to usher in a new quarterback, the offensive line has some pieces to replace, and two NFL running backs are no longer helping things out, and the consensus is that the OSU offense won’t be nearly as good in 2025. According to Smith, however, not so fast. When speaking with Adam King of the CBS affiliate WBNS 10TV in Columbus, he had a warning for opposing defenses this fall.
“I just can’t wait until the season starts. We’re definitely gonna put on a show,” Smith said. “A lot of people are doubting us, I’ve been seeing on Twitter and social media. So I can’t wait to prove a lot of people wrong this year.”
