The Oregon Ducks were unable to land one of the top linebackers on their board on Tuesday when 5-star Tyler Atkinson announced his commitment to the Texas Longhorns, choosing Steve Sarkisian’s team over both Dan Lanning’s Ducks and Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs.
While there are still highly-rated prospects at the position available, it doesn’t appear that they will be one of the other top names. 4-star LB Nick Abrams II is scheduled to announce his commitment on Wednesday, July 16, and he recently picked up a prediction to land with another SEC school, the Bulldogs.
Abrams has a final four of Oregon, Georgia, Michigan, and Alabama, but On3’s Steve Wiltfong placed his prediction for Georgia to come out on top earlier this week.
Abrams is rated as the No. 229 player in the class, and No. 12 LB according to 247Sports. He has been high on the Ducks after taking an official visit to Eugene earlier this summer, but ultimately, the distance from his home in Maryland became a big factor in his recruitment.
