Deontae Lawson responds to Thomas Castellanos at SEC media days

Earlier this offseason, new Florida State Seminoles starting quarterback Thomas Castellanos made headlines across college football due to comments made surrounding the Alabama Crimson Tide ahead of their Week 1 matchup.

Well, it appears that an Alabama player has now responded to those comments from the Florida State quarterback as well, with returning inside linebacker Deontae Lawson doing so Wednesday morning at 2025 SEC football media days.

During an appearance on SEC Network’s SEC This Morning, Lawson, Alabama’s lone returning captain from a year ago, responded by saying:

“It definitely ignites us a little bit,” Lawson said. “We can’t really think too much on that because it’s gonna come down to what we do, and how we prepare that week. All disrespect will be addressed accordingly.”

Alabama and Florida State are set to open the 2025 college football season in Tallahassee during Week 1. The game is set to take place Saturday, Aug. 30 at 3:30 p.m. ET, and will be televised on ABC.
