Ohio State football fans’ love affair with Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff show is about to take a major hit.

When the show first started in 2019, it was seen as an alternative to the long-running College GameDay on ESPN. “The Worldwide Leader” seemed to have a monopoly on the pregame college football circuit, and it had a former OSU player on the desk with analyst Kirk Herbstreit, but many saw the network as a narrative maker for the SEC and often an anti-Ohio State slant.

At least that was/is the narrative and perception.

Then, Fox lured former Buckeye head coach Urban Meyer to join the show, and many OSU fans started to make the switch and make Fox the preferred college football pregame show. But that may change now.

According to Front Office Sports, Fox is nearing a deal with Michigan Homer and Barstool Sports president David Portnoy. A Michigan alum and fervent, over-the-top supporter, Portnoy has routinely railed on and rooted against Ohio State. Think Desmond Howard on steroids, and that’s basically what you have.

According to the report, the deal would result in Portnoy having appearances on the show, with Barstool Sports programming appearing on FS1 as well.

If anything, Portnoy’s presence on Fox and potentially Big Noon Kickoff will be an interesting dynamic with Meyer a part of things. Remember, former Michigan player Charles Woodson is also a frequent visitor and analyst for Big Noon Kickoff.
