Florida football will enter the 2025 college football season with a No. 9 ranking in 247Sports’ preseason SEC poll.
It’s a mid-tier placement that reflects the cautious optimism surrounding head coach Billy Napier and a program still searching for consistency.
The Gators trail powerhouses like Texas (No. 1), Georgia (No. 2) and LSU (No. 3) in the poll, as well as Alabama, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
Despite the No. 9 ranking, the Gators have a chance to quickly change the national narrative. They have a tough test starting Week 3 of their season, with back-to-back road games against LSU and Miami.
The Gators’ performance early in the season, especially with a healthy DJ Lagway under center, will go a long way in determining whether they rise into contender status or remain on the outside looking in.
For now, the national media sees Florida as a team on the bubble. Come September, the Gators will look to prove otherwise.
