ESPN analytics rates the 2026 football schedule for the Florida Gators as the toughest in the country, ahead of Vanderbilt (2), Oklahoma (3), Texas (4) and Arkansas (5).
When the factoid was revealed on X on July 15, Billy Napier offered the following response: “Spot the Ball”
Napier explained the reasoning for the message, which will serve as a slogan during fall camp.
“It’s just a reminder to the guys you are gonna see a narrative about the challenge of the schedule, but we all understand reality is we’re gonna put the ball down, we’re gonna play those games,” Napier said. “We’ll have our opportunity. The key is that we are well prepared when we get there and we keep working on our ability to execute, building the toughness and the resilience of the team, the discipline that we’re gonna need to follow through.”
For the first time in Napier’s four-season tenure, Florida will get a chance to work some kinks out in the first two games of the 2025 season. After opening the prior three seasons with power five conference opponents, going 1-2 against Utah (twice) and Miami, UF will open with FCS opponent Long Island University on Aug. 30, then face USF on Sept. 6 before its SEC opener on Sept. at LSU.
