2026 4-star TE Evan Jacobson commits to Texas A&M

Texas A&M has landed its second tight end commitment in the 2026 recruiting class, as four-star tight end Evan Jacobson out of Waukee, Iowa, chose the Aggies over Notre Dame and Iowa State just after receiving a prediction from Rivals insiders Steve Wiltfong and Greg Smith to commit to Texas A&M on Thursday afternoon.

Standing at nearly 6-6 and 230 pounds, Jacobson is a standout athlete who also thrives on the hardwood with an eye on playing basketball with the Aggies under new head coach Bucky McMillan. This was an important aspect of his recruiting, and remains of significant importance once he makes his way to campus.

However, his strong relationship and scheme fit in OC Collin Klein’s offense, while working under tight end coach Christian Ellsworth, was equally important when making his final decision. On the field, Waukee’s lack of steady QB play and run-heavy scheme resulted in Jacobson reeling in six receptions for 91 yards and two touchdowns during his 2024 junior season.

Jacobson has a bright future as a hybrid receiver, but is already and established blocker and a perfect fit in what the Aggies are running under Klein, feeling he could easily be split out wide and thrive against smaller defensive backs, which is something to watch during the 2025 season with transfer tight end Amari Niblack and junior Theo Melin Öhrström.

According to On3, Jacobson is currently positioned as the 14th-ranked tight end prospect in the 2026 cycle and the 3rd-ranked prospect in Iowa.
