Last season’s leading rusher in the state of Texas is seeking a new college destination.
John Hebert, a senior at Houston school Strake Jesuit, posted on his X page Friday that he has decommitted from Washington State after announcing his commitment in late June.
“After much prayer and thought, I am decommitting from Washington State University,” Hebert said. “I want to thank (head coach Jimmy) Rogers, (running backs coach Donnell) Kirkwood, and the entire Washington State Football staff for everything during the process.”

Hebert (5-foot-10, 185 pounds) was the leading rusher in Texas last season, gaining 3,532 yards, which was also the second-most yards in the nation. He also tallied a total of 40 touchdowns.
Now as he’s getting ready for his senior season at Strake Jesuit, Hebert is now keeping his options open for a new school at the next level. One option is in his hometown, as Hebert reported receiving an offer earlier this month from the University of Houston.
But it will now be just as intriguing to see what school Hebert commits to now along with whether he can exceed his yardage total from his junior season at Strake Jesuit.
