Rutgers football is getting some unexpected help for its defensive line.
Wydeek Collier, a four-star defensive end who had been committed to the Scarlet Knights as part of the 2026 recruiting class since January, has reclassified into the Class of 2025 and has officially signed with the program.
Collier, who made the announcement on social media July 26, will be with the team to begin training camp on July 28.
The 6-foot-7, 215-pound Collier played at Neumann Goretti in Philadelphia. He was the No. 3-ranked prospect in Pennsylvania for his class and the No. 105-ranked recruit in the country for the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
His offer list included Penn State, North Carolina, Miami, Nebraska, Florida State, USC and Syracuse in addition to Rutgers.
It remains to be seen how big of a role Collier will have as a true freshman – transfers Eric O’Neill and Bradley Weaver are likely going to be the starters – but the Scarlet Knights could use bolstered depth at defensive end, especially with a player of Collier’s caliber.
