Nebraska running back Mike Rozier named the greatest No. 30 in history

A new list from Fox Sports honors one of the greatest players in Nebraska football history. I-back Mike Rozier was named the greatest college football player to ever wear the No. 30.

Rozier played at Nebraska from 1981-83, running for 4,780 yards and 49 touchdowns. His best season was in 1983, when he ran for 2,148 yards and 29 touchdowns en route to the Heisman Trophy.

According to Fox Sports, the list is based on three key factors that determined how each player performed during their college football career. Those factors are prestigious accolades, statistics, and winning percentage. Fox Sports highlighted the impact Rozier still has on the Nebraska football record book to this day.

“Nebraska is known for its rich football history, and Rozier is widely considered one of the best to ever don a Huskers jersey. To this day, Rozier remains Nebraska’s all-time leading rusher after totaling more than 4,700 rushing yards and 49 rushing touchdowns from 1981-83.”

The New Jersey native would play two seasons in the USFL before joining the NFL and Houston Oilers for the 1985 season. He played for the Oilers from 1985-1990 and closed his career with the Atlanta Falcons for the 1990-91 campaign.

Rozier was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006. The two honorable mentions on the list for No. 30 are Fordham center Alex Wojciechowicz and LSU defensive back LaRon Landry.
