An unspecified Indiana football player was offered $1.5 million to transfer during the spring portal window:

BLOOMINGTON —  Indiana football opens fall camp on July 30 as Curt Cignetti and crew look to build on the foundation they laid with an historic run to the College Football Playoffs. 

The Hoosiers were once again active participants in the transfer portal, but they also retained many of the key faces behind last year’s success. We’re taking a position-by-position look at their roster this week that continues with a breakdown of the team’s quarterback room.

Indiana football makes it through offseason with drama-free quarterback competition

Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti was reluctant to share any information about his team’s quarterback competition ahead of the 2024 season. 

He’s done a 180 this year. 

Cignetti has openly talked about the pecking order at the position with Fernando Mendoza at the top of the two-deep and his brother, Alberto, backing him up. 

He had little reason for subterfuge given Fernando’s Power Four experience and the effort the staff made in landing him out of the transfer portal. Alberto was a clear cut No. 2 as the only healthy scholarship quarterback who was on IU’s roster last season.
