If Syracuse has a strong football season, the Orange will have earned it.
By one measure, SU might have the toughest schedule in college football this season.
Here’s how: The Orange are the only team in the country to play at least three of last season’s College Football Playoff teams away from home. And they play four.
They open the season against Tennessee at a neutral site, Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Then they travel to Clemson, to SMU and to Notre Dame.
Sure, the overall schedule difficulty in the ACC might not measure up to an SEC or Big Ten slate.
But to make it to the CFP, or be in contention, teams need to win football games. Syracuse has at least those four games that would require great performances to win.
Now do games away from home. Here I typed it out for you.
Games against 2024 CFP opponents away from home:
4 – Syracuse
3 – NO ONE
2 – Wisconsin, ucla, Arkansas
1 – bunch of teams https://t.co/JhhWmW7riV

The Orange are capable. In year two under Fran Brown, they have the talent and belief to win games like that.
If they win the opener against the Volunteers, everyone in Orange will be behind this squad in the hopes of a big season ahead.
But it won’t be easy. Not at all.
Sometimes, that’s what can make it extra fun.
