Three storylines to keep an eye on at fall camp

MUNCIE — Ball State football players report for training camp this week with one month until their 2025 season kicks off. The 101st season of Ball State football will be the first of the Mike Uremovich era, and the Cardinals new head coach is ready to hit the ground running.

“After today, we get to start playing football,” Uremovich said at Ball State’s local media day on Tuesday, July 29. “That’s the payday for all the stuff that our staff’s really done over the course of the last seven months. I’m excited because we got to see a lot of (the players) in the spring, but there’s 18 new players on the team right now that have been with us all summer that we didn’t get a chance to see anything from them with the helmet and shoulder pads on, so I’m excited to have our whole team together on the field tomorrow.”

There will be plenty of new faces along the Ball State sidelines this season. Uremovich brought in an almost entirely new staff, while the roster features 53 new players — 34 of which were offseason transfer portal additions. While the Cardinals do return a handful of starters on both sides of the ball, transfers are expected to make a big impact on this year’s team.
