Wisconsin recruiting 2026 commit Jack Janda Illinois official offer

The Illinois Fighting Illini extended an official scholarship offer to Wisconsin class of 2026 commit, tight end Jack Janda, on Friday.

Janda is the second of Wisconsin’s 2026 commits to receive an official offer elsewhere, joining defensive lineman Djidjou Bah. As noted, Aug. 1 has always been the first date when college programs can officially extend offers to their verbal commits and other top targets. That date holds even more significance this year, as it began revenue-sharing between schools and their players. Now, in addition to offers, programs can extend official contract offers to their commits and other recruits.

Janda’s Illinois offer is noteworthy. He committed to the Badgers back on June 4 over top contenders Michigan State, Stanford and Illinois. Friday’s official offer means that the Illini are still involved in his recruitment.

247Sports currently lists the Michigan native as a three-star recruit. He’s specifically ranked as the No. 810 player in the class of 2026, the No. 44 tight end and the No. 16 player from his home state. While neither 247Sports nor Rivals/On3 has registered any predictions for him to flip his commitment, his pledge to the Badgers will be worth watching as the fall months arrive.

Wisconsin’s class of 2026 currently ranks No. 60 nationally and No. 16 in the Big Ten with 14 players committed. That group’s standing is far from the program’s consecutive top-25 finishes in 2024 and 2025, respectively. Badgers fans will hope that a resurgent 2025 season on the field will lead to an improved output on the 2027 recruiting trail.
