2027 4-star QB Jayce Johnson breaks down early commitment to the Texas A&M Aggies

Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes standout Jayce Johnson has been one of the more heavily recruited quarterbacks in the 2027 class, holding 33 offers and visiting schools across the country. But even through the busy spring and summer, he always had a clear plan.

“I always knew I would commit early,” Johnson told Rivals. “I’d been talking about it for a while. I wanted to lock in before my junior season.”

“The environment reminds me of home. It’s a football town, it is a country town — just like Valdosta. And I really connected with the staff. I love their spiritual side, their discipline, and how they bring people together.”

Head coach Mike Elko was a big factor, along with offensive coordinator Collin Klein, whose quarterback development track record made a strong impression.

“Coach Klein has been there and done it. He knows how to put me in position to succeed. I love his coaching style,” Johnson said. “And Trooper Taylor — that’s my dog. He brings love and loyalty. He’s a funny guy, but he keeps it real.”

Though he’s locked in, the No. 64 prospect in the 2027 Rivals…
