Clemson football schedule is tougher than some think, CBS Sports says

Heading into the 2025 college football season, the toughest opponents on the Clemson Tigers’ schedule figure to come at the beginning and end of the regular season.

Clemson hosts the LSU Tigers in an ACC vs. SEC battle in Week 1 at Memorial Stadium on Aug. 30. The Tigers of course will close the regular season with their annual rivalry clash with South Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, a place Clemson hasn’t lost since 2013.

In ACC play, much has been made this summer about the Tigers avoiding the Miami Hurricanes in the regular season, but they face a tough Louisville program that’s on the rise under third-year coach Jeff Brohm. The Cardinals upset Clemson a year ago in Death Valley, 33-21, on the first Saturday in November.

Clemson opens its ACC schedule on the road against Georgia Tech on Sept. 13 and also travels to North Carolina to face first-year coach Bill Belichick and then Boston College in back-to-back weeks, giving the Tigers three road dates in four games. Clemson hosts Syracuse, SMU, Duke, and Florida State in conference play.

At least one college football analyst believes that the 2025 ACC schedule for Dabo Swinney’s team may be tougher than some might think. CBS Sports’ Chip Patterson took a look at the schedules for all 17 ACC programs and ranked the Tigers with the sixth toughest schedule in the league.

Clemson’s 12-game slate is tougher than Miami’s in the ACC strength of schedule rankings from Patterson:

“Clemson can’t play itself, but it’s scheduled to play many of the other top teams in the ACC along with a season opener against LSU and its rivalry week finale at South Carolina . The Tigers have an ACC title game rematch with SMU in Week 8, a revenge opportunity against Louisville in Week 12, and not many opponents that are projected to be near the bottom of the league.” –Chip…
