LSU football coach explained why LSU’s top receiver a couple days of fall camp. Per a social media post from The Advocate’s Wilson Alexander, Kelly said Anderson “had some work done on his knee.”
Anderson is expected to return to practice this week and Kelly doesn’t anticipate this affecting Anderson’s status this season.
Anderson led LSU with 884 yards in 2024. He caught 61 passes and five scores while averaging 14.5 yards per catch. With LSU losing four of its top five pass catchers from 2024, Anderson is the lone productive returner and is expected to play a massive role in the 2025 offense.
LSU upgraded the wide receiver room in the transfer portal, but Anderson is the one garnering All-SEC attention.
Anderson was a five-star recruit in 2022, per Rivals. The Louisiana product signed with Alabama but transferred home after one year with the Tide. He was buried on LSU’s depth chart in 2023, but enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2024.
Anderson’s impact was also felt on special teams, where he returned a kick for a touchdown in the regular season finale vs. Oklahoma.
