DJ Lagway on Walter Camp Award preseason watch list

Florida football’s incumbent starting quarterback DJ Lagway is among the 46 players named to this year’s edition of the Walter Camp Award preseason watch list by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

The 6-foot-3-inch, 247-pound passer out of Willis, Texas, enters his sophomore season amid high expectations after helping the Gators finish 8-5 in 2024 with a bowl game victory to boot. He earned eight different Freshman All-American honors and was named the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl MVP for his efforts, while also serving as a prominent figure in helping various nonprofit organizations in the Gainesville area.

The 2025 watch list includes 38 offensive players (22 quarterbacks, 11 running backs, four receivers/tight ends and one two-way player) along with eight from the defensive side of the ball. A committee comprised of 133 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors will narrow the list down to a group of 10 semifinalists in early November and then to a group of three finalists in early December, with the winner being announced Friday, Dec. 12.
