The Tennessee Volunteers are aiming to bring in a solid recruiting class for the 2026 cycle. The Vols have assembled a strong class so far, but there is still much more that can be done. Tennessee was one of the hottest programs on the recruiting trail in July.
“Tennessee then caught fire in July, landing 10 commits including from six four-star recruits. Three of Tennessee’s four highest rated commits and five of its nine highest rated commits announced their decision in July, rocketing Tennessee’s recruiting class into the top 10 nationally,” Rocky Top Insider’s Ryan Schumpert wrote.
The Vols still have a chance to add at least one more five-star recruit in this cycle. Savion Hiter is one of the best running backs in the entire recruiting class. He is set to commit on August 19, with Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, and Tennessee all in the running. However, it seems to have come down to just two teams: the Vols and the Wolverines.
“Georgia and Ohio State still have Hiter on their radar, and both would love to land him, but sources said that neither is willing to do what Michigan and Tennessee are talking about from a revenue-sharing/NIL standpoint,” reported 247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn.
This is big news for the Vols, as anything can happen. Tennessee is just one deal away from landing one of the nation’s best at his position. Unfortunately, Michigan remains the favorite, but Tennessee isn’t out of the fight.
“On3’s Steve Wilftong noted this week that he believes Michigan is in a ‘strong position’ for Hiter. Wiltfong, however, added that ‘nobody knows what he’s going to do’, while also pointing out that Tennessee is giving Hiter a lot to think about,” A To Z Sports’ Zach Ragan wrote.
