The AP’s ever important preseason poll was released on Monday around noon, and your Fighting’ Tigers of LSU will begin the 2025 season as the No. 9 team in the country.
Texas just barely edged out Penn State for the No. 1 spot heading into 2025. The Longhorns earned 25 first place votes, while Penn State was right behind them with 22. Defending champion Ohio State opens at third, Clemson is fourth, and Georgia round out the top-five. The Buckeyes got 11 first place votes, Clemson got four, and Georgia got one.
For our purposes, this confirms what everyone assumed heading into the season: LSU and Clemson is officially a top-10 game. Week one officially has three top-10 matchups: No. 9 LSU at Clemson, No. 1 Texas traveling to No. 3 Ohio State, while No. 6 Notre Dame plays at No. 10 Miami on Sunday, August 31.
