2026 4-star RB KJ Edwards will reportedly visit LSU next month

Texas A&M’s elite 2026 running back commit, four-star Jonathan Hatton, and KJ Edwards are destined for productive college careers, and Hatton has shut down his recruitment and will sign with the Aggies in early December. Keeping two elite prospects at a premium position is a challenging task in today’s landscape, and with the 2025 season opener against UTSA just 17 days away, KJ Edwards is reportedly set to take at least one SEC visit this fall.

On Wednesday, rumors swirled that the Texas Longhorns and LSU are now in the running for Edwards, who, after canceling his official visit to Austin (TX) in June, did take his OV to Baton Rouge. According to Rivals insider Sam Spiegelman (subscription required), Edwards will head back to LSU for a game-day visit when the Tigers host Florida on Saturday, Sept. 13.

This isn’t a shock, knowing that LSU’s ace recruiter, Frank Wilson, has been contacting Edwards non-stop since he committed to the Aggies on June 17. However, his relationship with coach Mike Elko and running back coach Trooper Taylor remains very strong and will continue to grow with every future conversation, which he expressed to Speigelman.

“Everything has been going well. I’m just continuing to build my relationship with A&M,” Edwards stated. “It’s been going good. It’s always been genuine with them from Day 1 and it has continued throughout this process.”

Elko and his staff have built the 2026 recruiting class on relationships in the new NIL world that has leveled the playing field among the Power 4 conferences. Again, while Edwards has not verbally shut down his recruitment, this is a great sign leading up to his LSU visit, even though the Tigers still have a realistic shot at flipping him.
