Discussing John Mateer’s Venmo activity

NORMAN — It’s been an interesting week on the OU football beat.

Allegations circulated Monday evening after a series of screenshots showing Venmo activity from Sooners quarterback John Mateer’s account on Nov. 20, 2022, surfaced. The Venmo receipts twice referenced “sports gambling” and a specific game. Mateer, then a true freshman at Washington State, has since deleted all of his Venmo transactions.
