The Wolves enter the 2025 season with coach Daniel Mejia taking over for Monty Leaf, who moved to administration after three seasons as the head football coach and athletic director. This is Mejia’s second season with Colorado City after being the offensive coordinator last year. He was previously the offensive coordinator at Miles and brings a total of 28 years of coaching experience to the Wolves.
Mejia said he is excited about the opportunity to rebuild a Colorado City team, which has combined for a 5-25 record over the last three seasons. The Wolves will adjust their offense to a gap scheme, adding to the quick passing attack Mejia added last season. Mejia said he believes the offensive line is the biggest strength of this year’s team with all five starters returning, specifically pointing to Andrew Goodney, Aiden Wooddell, Kenny Hearin and Curtis Lindsay.
The Wolves will turn to sophomore quarterback Ace Mejia — Daniel Mejia’s son — to be this year’s signal caller, highlighting his familiarity with the quarterback position and offensive scheme. They return star linebacker Mikell Martinez, who recorded over 100 tackles last season, and look to feature him on offense more this year.
